In 2001 Joe Ragosta and Drew Buffardi approached Anthony Mingoia in order to start a band to perform in a local show, with a guitarist, bassist and drummer on board, they recruited the help of Michael Ragosta, Joe’s brother, to be the main vocalist, and here is where Patent Pending started life.

Joe was the lead guitarist in the band until 2009 when Joe and Michael began switching vocals on Attack of the Awesome, in 2009 Michael left the band and Joe became the full time vocalist in the band. Joshua Dicker was asked to take over the role of touring guitarist until Rob Felicetti joined the band while on tour and became full time guitarist shortly after.

Joe co-owns the entertainment business Kid Chino Goods with Corey Tully (founder of Villains), who design and produce live staging equipment, such as backdrops, flags, stickers and merchandise. They have worked with bands such as Bowling for Soup, Zebrahead and Motionless in White along with many others.

To this day Joe swears he knew he would end up with Dana the first time he saw her face. After knowing her a few years, in 2002 the two friends lost communication when Dana went off to college, in 2003 Joe sent out a post online to hundreds of people asking for places for Patent Pending to play but only Dana replied to the post, from then communication was restored and they have been inseparable since. The couple got engaged on June 12th 2011, while driving to the diner they went on their first date, Joe pulled into an abandoned parking lot, pretended to have a flat tyre, both of them got out of the car and Joe popped the question. The pair married on August 18th 2012.

After seeing a friend commit suicide, Joe works within his community, online and with various charities to help aid young people suffering from depression and mental illnesses, he especially works closely with the charity To Write Love on Her Arm, an organisation to give help to people suffering from addiction, depression, self injury and suicidal tendencies.

In 2013 Joe released his own clothing line, Dizzy, though Villians. This line of clothing can only be purchased though Villians, and is very limited edition and is only available online in the US and UK stores.
