Patent Pending set to play Soundwave 2015!

Posted by jamie on 2014-08-05 11:04
Earlier today, Patent Pending we're announced to play Soundwave 2015, Soundwave is a music festival which tours across Australia, playing many different cities and venues, Soundwave 2014 featured the likes of Bowling for Soup and Green Day. Patent Pending are just the second band to be anounced for the Festival, following the anouncement of Coldrain yesterday.

The promoter of Soundwave originally had plans to bring Patent Pending on 2014 Vans Warped Tour Australia, but with the 2014 Tour only hitting America this year he was just as happy to include them in one of Australia's biggest music festivals instead!

There is a really nice article on Australian Music Website Music Feeds about the guys getting anounced on the Soundwave line up, which goes on to talk about who the band are and what they sound like;

Taken from http://musicfeeds.com.au/news/soundwave-2015-lineup-patent-pending/

You can place Patent Pending’s sound firmly in the post-Blink-182 era of pop-punk, with uplifting, melodic choruses that scream “Sing it with me!” This is set against a lean guitar-bass-drums soundbed, though the band are known to experiment with keys and even chiptune elements.

Also included in the article is what are they like live, and for fans off...

These guys are gonna be the band that everyone’s talking about the day after Soundwave. Their performances are consistently lauded as entertaining spectacles filled with stunts, jokes, non-stop audience interaction, great tunes and chops that have seen them tour with the likes of Bowling For Soup.

....

If you like your bands witty but unpretentious, poppy but not saccharine, and above all, fun, then Patent Pending are for you. If you want your Soundwave experience peppered with exciting, hilarious, and often outright bizarre memories, highlight Patent Pending on your timetable.

You can read the full article over on Musicfeeds website, or by clicking here!

The festival tours two cities together over a 2 day period, playing four cities, with each band playing the first city one day, and the other one the next. Set times haven't been anounced yet, so it is unclear which day Patent Pending will be playing on at each show.

21st February 2015 - Adelaide and Melbourne
22nd February 2015 - Adelaide and Melbourne
28th February 2015 - Sydney and Brisbane
1st March 2015 - Sydney and Brisbane

You can find full details in our Tour Library!

Following the Brigter 2014 Germany Tour anouncement a few weeks ago it is certainly great to see Patent Pending finally getting the recognition they deserve and starting to tour all around the world, and you definitely can't get much further away from their humble begininings in New York to playing in Australia!

Patent Pending's Top 10 Game Soundtracks

Posted by jamie on 2014-07-30 09:03
Following last weeks release of Mario and The Brick Breakers: Greatest Hits, Patent Pending have been featured in an article on Idobi Radio. Idobi Radio is an internet radio station that broadcasts Alternate Rock with a mainstream focus.

Patent Pending feature in their Tuesday Ten, Best Video Game Soundtracks article,

Taken from http://idobi.com/editorial/2014/07/tuesday-ten-best-video-game-soundtracks/

The right soundtrack immerses you in a video game’s universe, and for Long Island’s resident pop punk 8-bit warriors Patent Pending, there was only one logical thing to do: meld their shared love of video games and game soundtracks. They’ve infused the band’s trademark sound with gaming’s musical elements and references for an infectious EP entitled Mario & The Brick Breakers: Greatest Hits

The article counts down through ten video game soundtracks which the band have picked, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Legend of Zelda, Grand Theft Auto, and of course, Super Mario Bro's.

You can check out the full list over on Idobi's website!

Get This Good Robot to the UK

Posted by jamie on 2014-06-25 09:17
This isn't something we normally post about on here, but this is a subject that the band, and a lot of their UK fans feel very strongly about.

Since the last UK tour, Joe started a campaign to try and get This Good Robot to join Patent Pending on their next UK tour, This Good Robot are a rock band out of New York, that have more than a few connection with Patent Pending, This Good Robot's guitarist is none other than Joe's brother, Robert Ragosta, who if you remember has played third guitar in a few Patent Pending shows, and joined them on their last tour in the UK.

Joe's other brother, Michael Ragosta, who was the singer in Patent Pending up until 2009, is now the singer of This Good Robot, so if This Good Robot were to join Patent Pending in the UK, there is definitley the potential for some older songs to be played with Michael as the singer!

Supporters of the campaign have started a Facebook group, Get This Good Robot to the UK (You must be a member of Facebook to see the group) and since the Brighter UK Tour anouncement yesterday morning, a lot of fans have been getting excited, and thinking that this is the tour where This Good Robot will be joining the band on UK Shores, but late last night, Patent Pending front man Joe Ragosta posted a statement on the subject:

Hey y'all! Seriously, i want This Good Robot to come to the UK with us more than any of you. I probably even want them to come with us even more than they want to. The truth of the matter is that we're doing everything that we can to try and make that happen. The decision is one of the only ones that we aren't allowed to make. It is honestly not up to us.

...

This tour is going to be a Patent Pending tour through and through. However, unlike recent trips, we do not have 100% of the power when it comes to picking the opening bands. There have truly not been ANY decisions made on any of the opening bands yet. We are going to do our best to make sure that the show is great from start to finish, but when it comes to bringing a completely unknown band from another country to open a tour this size some of the powers that be get a little... well, let's just say that even though they are my actual brothers by blood, there are some things that are still just a little out of our reach. To make this clear, we will have a say in who the opening bands are, but as of right now, it seems that we will have to pick from a pre-selected group of bands. We have no information yet on who those bands will be.

In the statement, Joe went on to list a few things, that we, as fans can do to help, first and foremost, support This Good Robot, the more downloads they have on iTunes, the more hits on YouTube, the more likes on Facebook and Twitter, the more likely the promoters of the tour will be willing to take a risk on bringing an unknown band on a tour as large as this.

Joe also suggests that we as fans promote the tour, the more early ticket sales, the more influence Patent Pending themselves have on choosing their own opening band.

Joe also went on to squash rumours about either People on Vacation, or The Dollyrots joining this tour, by saying that they tried, but schedules and plans are not lining up this tour, but maybe one day soon!

You can read the whole of Joe's statement on Facebook here (You must be a member of Facebook to see the full statement).

Don't forget tickets for the Brighter UK Tour 2014 go on sale this Friday, 27th June, and are on Presale to o2 customers TODAY!
